Prairie Rose is a self contained group featuring the vocals of Nancy Kitchen. Whether it be a country ballad or a rousing disco tune, Nancy delivers a vocal performance of lead and harmony that makes a night with Prairie Rose a special event. Nancy Kitchen began her professional music career in 2000. She joined the popular group, The Edsels, and began a recording career in Nashville with producer Danny Ramsey. Since joining Prairie Rose, Nancy has delighted audiences with her ability to sing songs that are seldom performed by cover bands. Al Kitchen was a member of The Edsels for several years before forming Prairie Rose. Al plays guitar and adds lead and harmony vocals. Al also produced the group's last CD. As soon as Brian Smith heard The Beatles sing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" on his older sister’s AM radio, he had to learn to play guitar and drums. Brian states, "I have been an avid musician ever since. I was heavily influenced by early British bands as well as the incredible rhythm and blues groups from Detroit and beyond. In later years, such bands as The Eagles, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Charlie Daniels Band, Eddie Rabbitt and other great performers broadened my horizons. Having the inspiration from such groups led me to an eagerness to learn many styles of music. I have been fortunate enough to perform steadily through the years playing guitar and singing Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Country, Country-Rock, and I've even had a couple stints with Big Band sounds! I've had the good luck to have played in many venues in my home state of Illinois, as well as stints on the road with Carlotta Gayle, and I have opened for Tom T Hall. I'm still excited when I get on stage and perform a song that takes both the audience and I to "that" place, and the feeling that it gives. And I look forward to continuing on until my fingers no longer move!"
The group just released their new album, Tell Me Why in February, 2006. Negotiations are underway with at this time for a release of a single from the new CD.
